2017년 8월 11일 LA한국문화원, 쇼미그룹, 그리고 홍익민화연구소는 “2017, LA Show Me” 특별전시회 개막식을 개최하였습니다.

On August 11th, 2017, The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles , Show Me Group, and Hongik Minhwa Design Institute held the opening ceremony of the ‘Korean Folk Painting: 2017 LA Show Me.

이번 전시는 한국에서 열리는 쇼미전의 일환으로 매년 한국에서 1번 미국에서1번 열리는데요. 이번에도 LA의 홍익민화연구소와 한국의 쇼미회원 분들이 함께 미국의 한국인들이 가장 많이 살고 있는 엘에이에 한국 문화의 정수인 민화를 알리기위해 이번 전시를 준비했습니다.

This exhibition is part of the ‘Show Me’ of Korea, and the exhibitions are held annually once in Korea and once in America.

This time again, KCCLA held ‘Show me’ with members of the Show Me Group and Hongik Minhwa Design Institute to let people know the excellence of Minwha.

항상 큰 작품을 많이 했는데 소품전으로 기호기을 했습니다. 아기자기하면서 새로운 아름다움 이있느것같습니다. 우리 그림을 보면 항상 행복한 마음을 간직할 수 있어 좋은 것 같습니다

Show Me exhibition has always involved big art pieces, but this time around, we tried to show the small but intricate art works of Minhwa. I hope people will be able to see a different kind of beauty. It’s always a delight to look at Minhwa.

이런 의미있는 전시회에 참여하게 되어 영광입니다. 이러한 전시는 다양한 사람들을 만나고 교류 할 수 있는 기회의 장이 되기 때문에 문화를 알리는데 있어서 매우 중요하다고 생각합니다.

I am very honored to participate in such a meaningful exhibition. I believe that events like these are crucial for building connections between people and also for promoting diverse cultures.

이번 전시에는 50여점의 전통적인 작품과 현대적으로 재해석된 작품들이 소개되었으며

This exhibition featured over 50 Korean traditional folk paintings(Minhwa) and contemporary works by members of the Show Me Group and Hongik Minhwa Design Institute.

2017년 8월 12일에는 민화에 대해 소개하고 참가자가 직접 민화를 그려볼 수 있는 세미나가 개최되었습니다.

And on August 12th, Korean Cultural Center held a seminar to introduce Minhwa, and participants were able to draw Minhwa in person.

This exhibition was a great chance to take a look inside Korea’s heritage and have a better understanding of Korea, its people, and culture.
