8월 24일 수요일. LA한국문화원 3층 아리홀에서 류별로 본 우리춤 시리즈 그 두번째 공연이 열렸습니다.

The 2nd “Korean Dance in Style by Masters Series” performance was held on Wednesday, August 24th on the 3rd floor of the LA Korean Cultural Center in the Ari Hall.

2016년 공연작품 공모전 아리프로젝트의 아홉번째 무대는 이영남 한국전통무용원장이 주최하고 특별히 인간문화재이신 엄옥자 선생이 참여하였습니다. 

As the 9th Ari Project of 2016, this concert was directed by Ms. Lee Youngnam, the director of Lee Youngnam Korean Dance Company, and specially Ms. Um Okja, one of the human cultural assets of Korea joined the performance.

엄옥자류, 김숙자류, 이매방류 등 각 유파별로 우리의 춤을 비교 분석하며 한국전통무용의 진수를 화려하게 선보인 자리였습니다.

By comparing and contrasting the different styles distinguished by styles like Um Okja style, Kim Sukja style, and Lee Maebang style, traditional Korean dances were beautifully showcased in this performance.

승전무는 임진왜란 때 충무공 이순신 장군께서 전쟁에 나가기 전에 사기를 돋구고, 그리고 전쟁에 나가서 이기고 돌아올 때마다 승리를 노래한 춤이에요.

그래서 그런 것들이 이제 고증이 되어서 우리나라 국가무형문화재 21호로 지정이 되었죠.  

Seungjeonmu was performed by Admiral Yi Sunshin to boost the morale of his soldiers before going out to the war, and also to celebrate his victory during the Japanese invasions of Korea.

And as the dance became a historical evidence, it became designated as our country’s national Intangible Cultural Property No. 21. 

저희 전통춤은 정형화되어 있다라고도 하고, 

어쨌든 무대에서 춤을 어떤 대상을 만나서 어떻게 풀어나가느냐에 따라서 일회용이라고도 보시면 될 거 같거든요.

Our traditional dances are regarded as standardized, but I personally think dances can always be interpreted differently depending on the dancer and audience.

그래서 저는 오늘 특별한 그런 살풀이춤을 추고 싶었습니다.

Which is why I wanted to dance a special type of Salpurichum tonight.

Everything that I saw tonight was a masterpiece of the beauty, and feeling and otherwise.

오늘 봤던 모든것들이 정말 아름다움과 감정을 겸비한 걸작이었어요.
